The Shupack and Michaels Group, Inc. is a National Personnel Firm that specializes in recruitment for the Engineering and Architectural community.

The Shupack and Michaels Group, Inc. was formed by Joseph Shupack in 1975 to recruit and place engineers in the design and construction fields. Starting out as a sole proprietor, the firm has grown to its current staff size comprised of 6 outstanding recruiters. In 1985, Ellen Michaels joined the staff as Managing Partner. In 1997, Karen Duva joined the staff as Office Manager. Our Executive Recruiter Staff is now Karen Duva, Remzije Capric, Judy Weigold and Donna Mortimer.

The needs of our clients generally cover most disciplines including but not limited to architects, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, civil, structural, sanitary, transportation, and site development. Positions range from designer to President and include all levels from designers and support personnel to design engineers, project engineers, architects, team/group leaders, project managers, chief engineers, department heads, CFOs, Vice Presidents and Presidents.

About our staff

Joe Shupack formed Shupack & Michaels in 1975 to recruit and place engineers in the design and construction fields. He earned his BS in Accounting from Brooklyn College. Before entering the recruiting field, Joe held a number of corporate positions in the accounting field. He is currently President of the firm and works with clients in the engineering and architectural fields.

Ellen Michaels has been with Shupack & Michaels for the past 17 years. Ellen has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Albany. Her background includes 7 years in the brokerage field. Since 1985, Ellen has been actively recruiting engineers for consulting and architectural engineering firms nationwide.

John Gerace. Ph.D., P.E. has recently joined Shupack & Michaels. He has 30 years experience in the Consulting Engineering Field and Academia. He received his Ph.D. at the New School, MBA from St. John's University and his Bachelor of Engineering at the New York State Maritime College. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. We welcome Dr. John.

Karen Duva joined Shupack & Michaels in February 1997 as an Office Manager. Karen has 24 years experience in various industries such as Banking and Brokerage. Before joining the firm, she held various administrative positions in the retail and educational sectors. In addition to her office and management responsibilities, Karen started working as an Executive Recruiter in 2000.

Remzije Capric joined Shupack and Michaels in October 2005 as an Administrative Assistant. Remzije has over 6 years experience working in the areas of computer, sales and advertising. She worked closely with the Managing Partners, Office Manager and Executive Recruiters and in 2006 became an Executive Recruiter.

Judy Weigold joined Shupack and Michaels in February 2010 as an Executive Recruiter. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a Teacher's Assistant, and she also has over 15 years experience in the Legal field, working as a Paralegal and Legal Recruiter.

Donna Mortimer joined Shupack and Michaels in March 2010 as an Executive Recruiter. Donna has an MBA concentrating in Human Resources and a BBA in Management from Adelphi University. Formerly a Corporate Bank Officer in NYC, plus 16+ years of HR experience in various Fortune 500 companies including HBO, Canon, Northrup Grumman and Greenpoint Bank.
